Promotional Product Ideas For The Home Building Industry

Home construction seems to be on an endless boom and many building companies are vying to attract clients to their houses over a competitor. It all starts with the display home. Sometimes these are purpose-built in an area where many building companies display their latest offers. What they need to do is attract people to their display home compared to a competitor to show people why they should buy from them. Below are some useful ideas on how to use promotional products from the display home through to the finished product.

There are many useful products to get people to your display home, but you also need to consider the demographic. If there are lots of families with children coming to view, then target the kids, rather than the adults. Where the kids want to go, the adults will follow. One of the best is balloons. No kid can say no to a free balloon, plus while they carry it around the area, it will advertise your business to others. Next is bribery, but hey, it’s a sweet bribe, so it’s a good one. Promotional confectionery is another great idea to attract kids and their parents. Small packs of jelly beans in cello packs are cheap to buy but very effective. If it is a hot day, perhaps look at some bottled water and hand them out as people walk in. You could also look to give away a printed tote bag with your details on the outside and paperwork inside that gives information about your show home and your company. Kids love to colour in, so consider custom colouring books that have your house design printed inside that the kids can then colour in. Maybe even have a competition where the best one submitted wins a prize. That way you can get all their details to do a follow-up sales call later on.

Once you’ve nabbed the client, the next is giving them a memorable gift when the house is built. This could comprise of one gift or a series of smaller items. Imagine handing over the keys to the new house on a personalised keyring. You then present them with a set of bath towels and finish it with a cutlery set. Another popular option is wine-based. Consider a wine cooler with a subtle engraved logo along with several bottles of labelled wines. You can do red or white wine, or if it is celebratory, you could do champagne. Throw in a wine bottle opener and you have the perfect gift. The wine may be drunk within a year, but the wine cooler and the wine bottle opener will last for years, giving your clients a little reminder of your company well into the future. It also gives you a great deal of goodwill with your clients if you give something substantial as a thank you.

Other useful items are kitchen related. Everyone loves kitchen gadgets, so consider a small kitchen scale or an electric salt and pepper shaker. Oven mitts or cheese boards are two other very popular products. You can really get creative in this section as there are so many products to choose from. As these are going into a client’s home, try and be subtle with your branding. If you make it big and bold, they may shy away from using them, especially when guests are over, whereas a small subtle logo is more enticing.

The last one we’d like to highlight are serving plates. People love to entertain, so give them a nice sized serving plate. You can get a small logo engraved or printed on an edge so it is not obtrusive.
